We were approached by the owner of a new property in the final stages of development. His friend had recommended our services following the completion of his own smart home. While visiting his friend’s property, we talked through the systems already installed and then new systems that are now available.
The plan was to work closely with the interior designer to ensure each system fit seamlessly into the property. The focus of the design was on aesthetics. The customer wanted audio-visual systems as the first priority, followed closely by security to offer peace of mind.

Find out moreFor automation purposes, the client was happy with what he saw at his friend’s project, so he opted for Control4 to bring all the systems together under one umbrella. This allows all the different systems to be controlled from in-wall touch screens, configurable keypads, smartphones, voice commands, remote controls, and programmable schedules.
An Hikvision IP system was suggested by the client, as this is one that he was familiar with from a previous property. The versatility of Control4 meant that integration was a straightforward process. We installed a 32-inch NVR, which would ensure enough capacity for the current phase 1 cameras and the cameras required for phase 2. The client could view up to 30 days of playback if required. We also installed a mixture of Bullet, vandal-proof domes and ANPR cameras to suit the different areas of the property. We also installed various fixed lenses and IR levels. The client is able to view CCTV through the touch screens, televisions, and smart devices while away from the property.
The client requested motorised blinds for the orangery to maintain a sense of privacy while also improving the aesthetics of the room. The client can control the blinds remotely using their smartphone, ensuring enhanced security while away from the property.
Due to the size of the property and the security considerations, we installed an IP intercom from Control4. This allows communication with the touch screens on the property and also with mobile devices when away from the property. A keypad was also installed, allowing the gardener and cleaner access to the property. And finally, an ANPR camera was installed, which would enable the gates to seamlessly open when entering the property.
A key priority for the client was multi-room audio, along with outdoor speakers for the raised and lower patio. Inside the property, we installed Sonance ceiling speakers to ensure a seamless and minimal look while also matching the speakers for the surround sound system in the snug.
To cover the 8 televisions within the property, we allowed for an 8x8 HD Pro matrix from the manufacturer HD Anywhere. ARC was a key consideration as the client wanted the ceiling speakers to enhance the existing smart TV functionality. With four people living in the house, we installed four individual sky boxes, allowing any box to be viewed on any TV. Other items such as CCTV, on-screen GUI from the C4 system, and Apple TV services were added as inputs to the matrix. The images are then delivered to the TVs over cat6 cabling.
Working alongside a lighting designer and using Philips Dynalite, the client requested a similar smart lighting setup as his friend’s property. The system was installed by electricians and then integrated into the Control4 to allow complete control from the touch screens and C4 app.
A heating specialist consulted on the installation of the Neo Heatmister system. This would allow for underfloor heating and Control4 integration. Once complete by the heating specialist, we migrated this into the C4 project.
